March is now behind us and we're headed into April, the start of spring. Lots of great dives this month with Divecenter Merlin and many returning friends. Looking forward to the calmer seas and the increasing visibility that comes our way every summer. Lot's of interesting and good things took place last month, keep reading to find out what they were!
Headed back to Las Terrenas to do a few days of diving with Paul, Audrey and Sonja from The Dive Academy. We were greeted with great weather, a calm ocean, and 100 foot plus of visibility. Oh yeah, also a really good current! The first dive was the wreck of The Dolphin - a research vessel intentionally sunk to create an artificial reef. A smaller wreck but sitting intact on a sand bottom and teaming with life. After our surface interval we dove at The Canyons, a shallower dive with LOTS of structure and swim throughs.
On Sunday we were off to Cabo Cabron. The diving here is nothing short of spectacular. Honestly one of the best walls I have ever dove in my life. Even managed to get a few decent photos!
Monday morning it was time to squeeze in one more dive before heading home and it was great! The current was flying and we turned it into a drift dive on Creole reef. Really impressed with how healthy this reef is! Thanks again to the crew from The Dive Academy for a great weekend. See you again soon!
On a different mote, I was lucky enough to have one of my photos used at The Concordia University Of Edmonton in the psychology department - PSY 340, Emotions and Behavior, lecture on Awe. That was kind of cool! Thanks Doctor Holli-Anne Passmore!
Casa De Arte here in Sosua is holding an exhibition of local artists. I was honored to be a part of an exhibition of local artists at Casa De Arte and for the visit from Katrin Werdermann, (Jefa Adjunta de Mision) (Mission Chief) for Germany to the Dominican Republic.
Check out the exhibit - there is some FANTASTIC stuff from our local artists. These artists all have works all over the globe in many national galleries.
Onwards to April and some exciting things coming up. Besides another trip to TDA, more of my friends are coming down to dive here in Sosua! Really looking forward to seeing them again. (and a big thanks for bringing down a new camera lens). Should be fun to try it out!
Have a wonderful spring - or fall for my friends on the other side of the world, stay happy and healthy and please keep our oceans and our environment clean!
